BioWare has stated that it expects the upcoming Mass Effect 2 to be exclusive to Microsoft’s Xbox 360 for “at least a short period of time,” prompting speculation that the highly anticipated sequel may eventually be headed to the PlayStation 3.
Speaking to website CVG, Matt Atwood, Senior Manager for BioWare, commented, "I believe we’ll be Xbox 360 exclusive for at least a short period of time," adding, "We’re still working out the details on that, but we’ve had a great relationship with Microsoft and done very well."
Electronic Arts recently acquired BioWare in January 2008, igniting widespread belief that the remainder of the popular Science Fiction trilogy would be going multiplatform at some point in the near future.
Despite this, Microsoft told IGN “We have no announcements on future Mass Effect projects at this time."
"Additional inquiries may be sent to Electronic Arts," the company added.
