Mass Effect Andromeda PS4 resolution and frame rate confirmed in new update

BioWare’s general manager has confirmed how Mass Effect Andromeda currently performs on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in terms of frame rate and resolution.

Mass Effect Andromeda PS4 running at 1080p

Speaking in a post on NeoGAF, Aaryn Flynn dismissed suggestions that the hotly anticipated sci-fi RPG was running at 900p and 720p for PS4 and Xbox One, respectively. It is, in fact, a bit higher than that.

Last I checked, we were like other Frostbite games on PS4 and XBox One – 1080p and 900p respectively. All are at 30 fps. PC has uncapped frame rate. I think we’ve even gotten over the 30 fps cap in cutscenes, but I’ll double-check in the next couple of weeks.”

Obviously, this is how the currently build of Mass Effect Andromeda is running, so things could change between now and when the game hits stores later this year. Speaking of that, a concrete Mass Effect Andromeda release date has yet to be confirmed, although publisher Electronic Arts has said that the game is targeting a spring 2017 launch window

Mass Effect Andromeda takes place some 600 years after the events depicted in the original trilogy, with players assuming control of newcomer Ryder; a pathfinder who is tasked with finding a new home for humanity by exploring the titular Andromeda galaxy. The game features a number of returning races from the wider Mass Effect universe, as well as the Nomad (basically a revamped Mako from ME1) to facilitate exploration of uncharted planets.

BioWare has confirmed plans to reveal new Mass Effect Andromeda gameplay at some point today, so keep your eyes peeled. For now, check out the most recent footage of the game in action.
