Retail giant Amazon has posted up a listing for Mass Effect on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on its official website.
The listing (via Junkiemonkeys) doesn’t give us much to go on, as it uses a placeholder release date (December 31, 2014) and box art. However, we imagine it’s one of two possibilities: Mass Effect 4 or a Mass Effect Trilogy.
Given that the next chapter in BioWare’s space saga is still a long way off, it’s unlikely this listing pertains to Mass Effect 4, or whatever the studio ends up calling.
A Mass Effect Trilogy for next-generation consoles, however, has been touched on previously by BioWare, so it’s entirely conceivable that Amazon has got the scoop on a PS4 and Xbox One edition of Commander Shepard’s galaxy-spanning battle against the Reapers.
This is also not the first time the game has appeared on a retailer’s website, as you can see here.
Nothing official has been confirmed by BioWare or publisher Electronic Arts though, so take this with a pinch of salt until we hear something concrete.
As for Mass Effect 4, we know it’s already well into development, but apart from that there hasn’t been a lot of information to go on. BioWare has already said that Shepard won’t feature in the game, and we can expect some familiar features, but we’re still none the wiser as to whether it’ll be a prequel or sequel to Mass Effect 3.
