LittleBigPlanet creator Media Molecule is set to lift the wraps off its next project in 2027, according to a report on MP1st.
Sources told the site that the new project from Media Molecule, who released their most recent title, Dreams, in 2020, will take the form of a social-simulation game, inspired by the likes of Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon. It’s not a games-as-a-service affair, and may see the light of day in 2027 — we can at least expect a full reveal if not release next year.
A report from MP1st back in May 2026 revealed a few possible details on the new project from a resume of a Media Molecule artist, which hinted at “open-world content.” In addition, Mark Healey, co-founder of Media Molecule, revealed during a 2024 interview with Ben Hanson that the developers next title would be “more of a game than a creative tool,” suggesting it will differ greatly from Dreams.
In August of last year, studio co-founder David Smith announced that he was leaving Media Molecule to shift “focus on personal creative projects.” He founded the studio alongside the aforementioned Healey, as well as Alex Evans and Kareem Ettouney.
