Merger brings global communities closer to the action

Twitch.TV, the world’s largest community for broadcasting gaming, has made exclusive partnerships with two large European gaming groups called the Electronics Sports League and Team Dignitas.

Twitch.TV features games such as Uncharted 3, Black Ops, Dark Souls, Battlefield 2, and Fifa 12 and communities meet each other through it to create tournaments and leagues, as well as feature videos on the games played, to create a vast global space for gamers to meet and compete.

Emmett Shear, CEO of TwitchTV, shared the appeal of these partnerships by saying, "As the leader in eSports broadcasting, it’s critical that we continue to attract and showcase the industry’s top talent. These two new partnerships are the latest in a long list that includes the largest, most reputable organizations in electronic gaming. I’m so proud that teams and leagues of this caliber see fit to partner with us."

The Electronics Sports League is based in Europe and consists of over 3 million gaming members who offers more than 3,500 professional leagues and amateur ladders for a wide assortment of games.

Team Dignitas was formed in 2003 as a team for Battlefield 1943 and has now extended far beyond that into many, many franchises. This team is also one of the few major teams that supports games with smaller communities and followings.

This merger into Twitch.TV brings even more opportunities for the gaming industry and its followers to get even closer. It allows communities to join under a franchise and meet other supporters. A major union between Twitch.TV, and its vastly established list of leagues and communities, and Electronic Sports League and Team Dignitas proves that the communities within the gaming industry want to find a social gaming space easily accessed by the global followers as the industry grows.
