According to a listing on the Australian Classification Board, Konami is planning a standalone DVD release of its Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphical Novel title.
The ratings body awarded the release, titled Metal Gear Solid: Digital Novel Pack, an ‘M’ rating, which should come as a shock to no-one who has played the games.
Fans may recall that the novel was originally released in Japan, the U.S. and Europe for the PlayStation Portable in 2006. While it wasn’t a game, it offered a neat interactive comic book experience allowing you to delve into the Ashley Wood-illustrated MGS comics, which included music and sound effects.
Konami later released a DVD version in Japan alongside a second novel, though it didn’t arrive in the west until recently. It was also included in the Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection on Blu-ray.
The next chapter in the Metal Gear Solid series, titled The Phantom Pain, is currently in development for current and next-generation consoles. A release date has yet to be announced.
