Hideo Kojima has spilled some fresh info on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’s AI buddy system during a chat with Japan’s Famitsu magazine.
According to a translation of the interview, Kojima-san said that players can expect to choose from a wealth of characters to help you out—Quiet and DD among them, as previously confirmed.
You’ll have to be careful when selecting buddies you have extracted from the battlefield, though, as they were previously your enemy.
The Metal Gear creator also noted that if you allow your buddy to dispatch many foes, it’ll bring your overall score down.
However, those of you expecting Kojima-san to put in an appearance in The Phantom Pain as a buddy will be disappointed. “If I got you spotted you might take it out on me,” joked.
Kojima-san previously appeared in a mission in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, where players were tasked with extracting the game designer in the middle of a fierce firefight.
The Phantom Pain is due out for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
