Metal Gear Solid voice actor wanted David Hayter in The Phantom Pain

Quinton Flynn has admitted that he wanted to see Big Boss voiced by David Hayter in the upcoming stealth-action sequel, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Flynn, who voices Raiden in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, told Fragged Nation that he showed his support for Hayter by signing a petition to bring him back. He also revealed he "wrote a letter of support" for the veteran Metal Gear voice actor.

Elsewhere, Flynn said he wasn’t privy to the full story behind Hayter’s replacement, though assumed it was a business decision. However, he spoke highly of Kiefer Sutherland, who replaced Hayter in the role of Big Boss, saying he will put in a "capable performance."

Despite Hayter’s absence, there have been constant rumors that he will still show up in the game at some point, possibly as a younger Solid Snake.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PC, Xbox One and Xbox 360 on September 1, 2015. The game is the first in the series to pick up an ‘R18+‘ rating in Australia. Check out the latest info on The Phantom Pain here.
