Keiji Inafune has announced that Mighty No. 9 will be released in the U.S. on June 21 and in Europe on June 24.
Speaking on the game’s official website, the Mega Man creator confirmed that the long-delayed platform title has now gone gold, meaning development is complete and is in the process of entering manufacturing.
“Therefore the release date we are announcing is set in stone and there will be no further delays for the game,” he said. “We understand that as a result of the various delays we have disappointed and let down our fans, but we are happy to finally be able to deliver the game to everyone who brought us this far.”
Mighty No. 9 will be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Wii U. The game was originally announced as a Kickstarter project in August 2013 and smashed its $900,000 funding goal in just two days.
However, the much-anticipated game has been the subject of numerous delays, much to the annoyance of backers. Initially due out in spring 2015, the game was delayed to September and was later pushed back again until Q1 2016.
Despite initially promising no more delays at this point, developer Comcept revealed that it had postponed the game’s release again until the Q2 2016. Fortunately, we’ve finally reached a stage where there will (no, seriously) be no more delays.
