Responding to feedback from some of Mighty No.9’s 70,000 Kickstarter backers, who have pledged cash to secure the development of the spiritual successor to Mega Man, developer comcept has launched a new campaign for more funding.
Due for release on Steam, PS4 and Xbox One, Mighty No. 9 is a classic Japanese side-scrolling game that has already reached its funding goal of $3,845,170 on Kickstarter. However, game producer Keiji Inafune wants to take the title to a new level and is calling for more funding in order to reach new stretch goals for additional content, which includes the addition of English voice acting.
Gameplay in Mighty No.9 takes inspiration from Mega Man, which Inafune directly worked on. Players can expect 2D platforming action with 3D artwork and animation. The game consists of stages which conclude with a boss battle and feature a variety of weapons and abilities to help players take down enemies.
Here’s Keiji Inafune explaining more about the new funding campaign:
A release date has yet to be announced, but Mighty No.9 is now available to pre-order on Steam.
