Minecraft won’t launch with PS4

The PlayStation 4 version of Minecraft won’t accompany Sony’s next-generation console at launch this month, developer 4J Studios has announced.

Writing on Twitter (via MCV), the company also revealed that the planned PS3 version of the popular title is approaching testing, though wasn’t quite ready to commit to a release date just yet.

Said the firm: “We’re hard at work getting Minecraft: PS3 Edition ready for testing now. The other platforms & TU14 will be later.”

As for the PS4 version, it added, “No, it won’t be a launch title.”

Minecraft is the brainchild of indie developer Markus ‘Notch’ Persson and initially saw release on the PC in 2011. In addition to making its way onto Android and iOS platforms, 4J Studios brought the title to Xbox 360 earlier this year, where it enjoy critical and commercial success.
