Consumer awareness in Infinity Ward’s hotly anticipated Modern Warfare 2 has sparked considerably following Activision’s recent decision to reapply the Call of Duty brand.
Previously it had been revealed that interest in the shooter had waned in recent months after the CoD moniker was dropped and the game became known simply as Modern Warfare 2.
However, research from Neilson’s Video Game Tracking service has confirmed that the sequel has enjoyed a renewed interest among the gaming public following the return of the CoD brand.
The categories “Aided Awareness," "Definite Interest in Purchasing," and "Total Positive Interest in Purchasing" saw a substantial increase from the week of July 6 (prior to the name change) to the week of July 13 (following the reintroduction of the CoD brand in the game’s title).
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is due out on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 in November 2009.
