Speaking during an interview with MP1st, Crystal Dynamic’ experience director, Jeff Adams, has revealed that the upcoming Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will take around 14-16 hours to complete, which is slightly longer than Lara Croft’s 1996 genre-defining adventure.
The original Tomb Raider celebrated its 30th anniversary on October 24, having launched for the Sega Saturn on that date back in 1996. Yes, it wasn’t actually a PlayStation game from day-one; that would come in November alongside the PC release. Tomb Raider’s length varies depending on various factors, but these days it takes me about 10-12 hours to finish including all secrets (however I’ve played it dozens of times since I bought it in 1997 – and my original copy still works!).
When asked how long Legacy of Atlantis would take, Adams replied:
I’m comfortable saying we’re somewhere in that 14-to-16-hour range of play, depending on your play style. But what I also like to tell everyone when we talk about this is not to feel rushed. We’ve intentionally built a world that’s meant to draw you in and make you curious to explore, so you don’t have to put a timer on yourself.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is due out on February 12, 2027 for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S. The game is a ground-up remake of the 1996 classic title, but greatly expands on locations and gameplay mechanics, offering familiar sights and puzzles but revamping them for a new audience. For example, Lara now has a Focus ability that allows her to slow down time, and can also use a grappling hook to aid in navigation that wasn’t present in the original game. Players can also scan the environment for lore and to aid with solving puzzles.
