The big-screen adaptation of Capcom’s Monster Hunter franchise has suffered a significant delay, with the film now slated to appear in spring 2021.
Monster Hunter Movie Gets New Release Date
Originally slated to appear in cinemas on September 4, Monster Hunter will now be released on April 23, 2021. Unsurprisingly, the movie has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, although the release of A Quiet Place 2 in early September also contributed to the delay.
The Monster Hunter movie is being directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, who you’ll probably recognise from his work on Resident Evil and Mortal Kombat. The film will star Milla Jovovich as one of the main characters, and we recently got a look at her wielding the iconic Dual Blades.
Capcom’s most recent entry in the series, Monster Hunter World, is its best-selling individual game of all time, surpassing Resident Evil 5. The game received an expansion, Monster Hunter World Iceborne, which is still being updated quite regularly.
