Moon Studios, the team behind Ori And The Blind Forest and Ori And The Will Of The Wisps are working on another game, but this time it won’t be published by Xbox.
Instead, Private Division is stepping in to fill the publisher void, making it more than likely Moon Studios next title will come to PlayStation. In fact it’s already confirmed that their next title will come to as many platforms as possible.
Game director at Moon Studios Thomas Mahler explained in a lengthy Resetera post that exclusivity issues are a key reason why they’ve chosen not to work with Microsoft as a publisher again.
“This is also one of the main reasons why we decided to make our next game with Private Division instead of Microsoft. We always got so many gamers saying that they love Ori, but hate that they can’t play it on PlayStation. Well, why not? Because it was funded by Microsoft, hence they call the shots.”
He did so responding to the news that Xbox head Phil Spencer believes that the Xbox of 2021 could have kept Bungie in the fold.
As far as Moon Studios next game is concerned, it sounds like it is their largest project yet. It’s not an Ori sequel it seems, but according to Mahler the game “has a grand vision where we want everybody to be able to play together, across all systems”.
While Mahler could just be talking about wanting the game to be available to all players, the hint that they want everyone playing “together” could imply Moon Studios is working on a multiplayer title.
