IGN Fan Fest 2026 has played host to a brand new trailer for Mortal Kombat II, which is punching its way into cinemas on May 8, 2026.
The follow-up to 2021’s Mortal Kombat movie reboot, this latest film follows iconic franchise champions — among which introduces Karl Urban’s Johnny Cage — banding together to defeat Shao Kahn, who threatens to destroy Earth-realm and its defenders. In many ways, it follows the basic plot line of the Mortal Kombat II video game. Jeremy Slater provided the script while Simon McQuoid returns in the director’s chair.
The cast includes Adeline Rudolph (Kitana), Jessica McNamee (Sonya Blade), Josh Lawson (Kano), Ludi Lin (Liu King), Tati Gabrielle (Jade), and Lewis Tan (Cole Young). Check out the trailer below.
The last game in the Mortal Kombat series was 2023’s Mortal Kombat I, which acted as a soft reboot of the series following the time-manipulating antics of Mortal Kombat 11. NetherRealm Studios has yet to announce a follow-up.
