According to a report on Deadline, New Line is already gearing up for a third Mortal Kombat movie despite the fact Mortal Kombat II hasn’t even graced cinemas yet, with Jeremy Slater looking to return as screenwriter.
Mortal Kombat II was originally set to be released on October 24, 2025 but was delayed earlier this summer to May 15, 2026. As for the planned third movie, there’s no details on the story of Mortal Kombat III yet, but Deadline reports that Todd Garner is set to return as producer, having previously worked on Mortal Kombat II alongside James Wan, Toby Emmerich, E. Bennett Walsh and Simon McQuoid.

Simon McQuoid returned to the director’s chair for Mortal Kombat II, with Slater, of Fantastic 4 and Moon Knight fame, penning the script. Among the new additions to the cast include Karl Urban (Johnny Cage) and Adeline Rudolph (Kitana), while returning from the previous film will be Lewis Tan (Cole), Jessica McNamee (Sonya), Josh Lawson (Kano), Tadanobu Asano (Raiden), Mehcad Brooks (Jax) and Ludi Lin (Liu Kang).
Mortal Kombat II hits cinemas on May 15, 2026.
