The first trailer for the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie reboot will debut tomorrow, offering a glimpse at the first big-screen outing for the much-loved fighting game franchise since 1997’s Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.

Directed by Simon McQuoid, Mortal Kombat is set to be released in cinemas and HBO Max on April 16, and features Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin and Chin Han among others.
The film introduces newcomer Cole Young, who finds himself being hunted by the Lin-Kuei’s Sub-Zero, and ends up teaming up with a group of fighters chosen to defend the world from the forces of Outworld in the Mortal Kombat tournament.
The original Mortal Kombat movie was released in 1995 and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, who would later go on to helm the Resident Evil movies. The film is considered a cult classic and one of the better video game to movie adaptations.
