Developer NetherRealm has announced that Ermac will be a playable character in Mortal Kombat X.
Ermac is one of the many ninja-based characters from the venerable beat-’em-up franchise, and returns to MKX with three fighting styles: Master of Souls, Mystic, and Spectral. Check out his trailer below.
As with his previous incarnations, Ermac is able to wield the power of telekinesis and teleportation. He can also lob projectiles at enemies and slam them to the ground, and even take flight under certain circumstances.
Ermac debuted in Ultimate Mortal Kombat III back in the mid-90s, though his origins can be traced back to the original bloody brawler. He was rumored to appear in the game if the player spent enough time as Scorpion in the SEGA console version of MK, which would eventually cause the screen to flash and Scorp’s outfit to turn red—Ermac’s trademark colour.
This turned out to be completely false, although the MK team ultimately decided to introduced Ermac in UMKIII. Prior to that, an anagram of ‘Ermac does not exist’ was featured in MKII after finishing the game, as well as an appearance of secret character Jade with the accompanying text, ‘Ermac Who?’
