Finnish gaming magazine Pelaaja (via Test Your Might) has confirmed that Kung Lao will be returning for the upcoming Mortal Kombat X.
According to a translation of the article, the fighting monk’s combat styles are among the most diverse available on the character roster. He’s also looking a little more grizzly these days, probably because Mortal Kombat X is set 25 years after the previous game.
Kung Lao first arrived on the scene back in the early 90s with Mortal Kombat II, and has become synonymous with his razor-tipped hat, which he uses to hurl at enemies during a scrap. One of his early fatalities involved him bisecting his enemy with said hat.
The veteran brawler is the latest in a long line of classic MK combatants to join in the fray, including Goro, Raiden, and Quan Chi.
Mortal Kombat X is scheduled to ship for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One in spring 2015.
