Multiple Fallout projects are currently in development at Bethesda, according to VGC’s Jordan Middler in an appearance on the latest Friends Per Second podcast, including ‘one you’re all wanting.’
There’s no further details available as to what these games could be at this point, but one obvious contender based on previous rumours is a Fallout 3 Remaster. This could be what Middler refers to as the one that ‘you’re all wanting,’ as it’s definitely something folk are interested in. According to leaker NateTheHate earlier this year, a Fallout 3 Remaster is indeed in the pipeline, but won’t be out for a while yet.

Fallout 3 Remastered was previously listed in documents pertaining to the FTC and Microsoft legal battle a few years ago, with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered also appearing in the same document. Given that the Oblivion remaster did turn out to be the real deal — it launched a few months ago to great success — there’s every chance Fallout 3 could follow.
As for the next mainline entry, Fallout 5 is believed to be the next major project from Bethesda following The Elder Scrolls VI, which has still yet to nail down a release date. The game isn’t even full production yet, so we won’t be seeing Fallout 5 for a very long time yet.
This leaves the possibility that there’s another Fallout project in the works we don’t know about (assuming Middler’s comment of ‘multiple’ games doesn’t simply mean Fallout 3 Remaster and Fallout 5), perhaps a spinoff along the lines of Fallout: New Vegas. We’ll just have to wait and see until an official announcement is made.
