Murdered: Soul Suspect is the latest IP from Japanese publishing giant Square Enix, which the company has been Twitter teasing for some time now. No developer has been attached, though Internet gossips have suggested it will likely be Crystal Dynamics or Eidos Montreal.
Regardless, the premise of Murdered: Soul Suspect is nothing short of unique. Players control a detective named Ronan O’ Connor, but with a twist: O’ Connor is murdered by a relentless killer, and our hero finds himself stuck in the limbo world of Dusk. Unable to find peace until his killer is brought to justice, gamers must help the former detective nail his enemy from the afterlife.
Wielding supernatural abilities, O’ Connor has the entire town of Salem, Massachusetts to explore at leisure. However, since he’s unable to communicate in the traditional sense, the ex. detective must read the minds of the living and influence their thoughts and actions, while interrogating the phantoms of Salem’s past and battle demonic foes.
Check out the debut trailer below. Murdered: Soul Suspect is due out on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 in early 2014.
