My First GT is an upcoming new trial version of Gran Turismo 7 that’ll be arriving for free to all PS5 and PS4 players. You don’t need to have a PS Plus subscription to grab it, you just need a PS5 or PS4 system to hit “Download” on the PS Store.
Announced as part of the festivities for PlayStation’s 30th Anniversary, this trial version is meant to be accessible to all players of various skill levels regarding sim-racing games.
It’s also going to include some fan-favourite tracks, cars, and race events, each likely hearkening back to the original Gran Turismo release, considering this is all for an anniversary of the platform.
We don’t yet know how extensive this trial will be, if it’ll be something that in the PS Store falls under the Gran Turismo 7 page as an add-on, or if it’ll be its own bespoke app.
For now the latter is what it looks like, but with a release window for “this holiday,” we’ll likely wait until the anniversary itself to find out more. Hopefully though it’s promise of accessibility is not a hollow one.
Sim games, no matter the genre can be the most difficult for players to really get into. You might’ve previously thought that Gran Turismo just wasn’t for you, but perhaps My First GT could be the thing to turn players from doubters to believers, if it’s able to introduce the franchise and style of gameplay in a way that’s easy to swallow.
