Namco’s busy chiselling away on a new Soul Calibur game, and while details are pretty thin on the ground at present, Team Soul’s Daishi Odashima has confirmed that two new faces have joined the project – composer Junichi Nakatsuru and sound effects dev Yoshihito Yano.
Odashima-san lifted the curtains on the brawler via his Twitter on Christmas Day, and has been busy waffling on – much to our delight – ever since. “Nakatsuru-san and Yano-san’s works are awsome. Needless to say, they are joining the project," his latest update reads.
For those unaware, Nakatsuru-san has worked on all four entries in the celebrated beat ‘em up franchise, while Yano headed up sound effects for Soul Calibur IV.
Elsewhere, Odashima also Twitter teased the prospect of a guest character popping up in the new game, though made it clear a final decision has yet to be made. The previous title, Soul Calibur IV, featured Star Wars’ Darth Vader and Yoda.
Interestingly Namco itself has yet to formally announce a new Soul Calibur game, but we expect them to pipe up soon enough. Stay tuned for more info as it breaks.
