Square Enix’s Naoki Hamaguchi has revealed that the development team is considering the possibility of DLC for the as-yet unreleased Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3, but has also hinted a full game could also see the light of day, whatever that might be.
Speaking with WCCFTech, Hamaguchi-san, who is the game director on the Final Fantasy VII Remake project, said that while nothing is set in stone yet once the trilogy is complete, there’s a couple of directions the team could take — and DLC is one of them.
Once we release the third installment, there is the possibility of having a DLC for that [game]. With the conclusion of the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy, there’s probably going to be a much wider audience for Final Fantasy as a whole,” he states. Whether we bring another new DLC or a full title, that’s something we are actively considering.

When asked about the possibility of seen a standalone release for the Queen’s Blood card game, Hamaguchi noted that this is “probably not in the list of our priorities,” but did noted that “things are really up in the air right now” and that it might be considered if there’s “enough demand.”
Speaking in a separate interview recently, Hamaguchi stated that the team are looking to balance how the story arcs unfold in Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3, in order to provide something that ‘feels a bit more concise‘ in terms of overall structure.
Previously, the game director revealed that Square Enix has designate teams working on each platform so the multiplatorm approach won’t impact development of the upcoming third and final entry in the project ‘whatsoever.’ Hamaguchi is also confident that Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 will be ‘loved by everyone,’ although with the game not out until 2027 (supposedly) we’ve still got a bit of a wait on our hands.
In the meantime, Square Enix is bringing Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade to Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 in January 2026, with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth to follow at a later date.
