New Borderlands Game Is In Development At Gearbox, Confirms 2K

The next chapter in the Borderlands franchise is now in development at Gearbox, 2K has announced following news that the publisher has acquired the developer from Embracer Group.

Speaking on the news, Take-Two President (the publishing label for 2K), David Ismailer, commneted:

With nearly 20 years of history working together, Gearbox has played an integral role in our success, given their unique ability to create interactive entertainment experiences that feature beloved characters, exciting new worlds, and humorous storytelling.

Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford recently teased that Borderland 4 was definitely on the horizon, when he described an unannounced project as ‘greatest thing we’ve ever done,’ which is widely believed to be the new Borderlands.

The Borderlands franchise remains one of Gearbox’s most successful IPs to date, having sold over 83 million copies worldwide since its launch in 2009.
