The latest issue of EDGE magazine has spilled the beans on a slew of new Destiny 2 story details for your consumption.
The publication touches on the aftermath of the Homecoming mission, which was playable during the recent Destiny 2 beta. However, we weren’t able to see what happened after its conclusion, following Big Bad Ghaul’s attack on the Last City and chucking our Guardian down into the depths without Light.
Following this, EDGE confirms that the player awakens in the European Dead Zone, which is one of four new locations in Destiny 2. Your weaponless Guardian, who is also stripped of any abilities, must then stagger through the environment before eventually stumbling across The Farm.
Here, you meet Suraya Hawthrone, who reveals that a shard of the Traveler is located in the European Dead Zone. Once there, you must defeat a group of enemies also after the shard, before regaining your abilities.
Once this is complete, gamers are tasked with locating the Vanguards (Zavala, Cayde, and Ikora, who you should remember from Destiny 1) who are scattered across the solar system.
Destiny 2’s campaign is one of the main areas where Bungie has improved upon the original. For starters, there’s no Grimoire Cards to flesh out the narrative; everything is delivered via in-game cutscenes, and there’s plenty of them to boot.
In addition, Bungie has reportedly confirmed more than 80 story missions and 50 hours of PvE content for Destiny 2, which is a huge increase over the original 2014 shared-world shooter.
Destiny 2 preload date confirmed for PS4
Destiny 2 is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 6, 2017, with a PC version due in late October. Those of you who have pre-ordered the digital version of the game will be able to preload it at the end of the month.
