New Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 trailer released, includes Kingdom Hearts 3 gameplay

Square Enix has released a new trailer for the upcoming Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue via Jump Festa 2015, which also features new gameplay footage of Kingdom Hearts 3.

Check out the video below.

Announced during the Tokyo Game Show back in September, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 is a precursor to the hotly anticipated Kingdom Hearts 3, and remasters Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance in high-definition for the PlayStation 4, plus Kingdom Hearts Chi: Back Cover and Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep: A Fragmentary Passage.

Final Chapter Prologue will be the third remastered bundle that Square Enix has released for the Disney-RPG franchise, following on from Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX for the PS3. However, the software giant has indicated that there are no plans to bring those two bundles to the PS4 anytime soon. Final Chapter Prologue will be released in 2016.

Kingdom Hearts 3 was originally announced during Sony’s E3 2013 press conference following years of rumors and fan requests. The game is due out on PS4 and Xbox One, and while a release date has yet to be confirmed, Square Enix’s Tetsuya Nomura has said that he knows when the game will be released—he’s just not telling us.  Gamers can look forward to a number of fresh additions for the latest chapter in the fan-favorite series, including elements of Big Hero 6 and an improved combat system.

Kingdom Hearts 3 will, however, eschew the traditional Quick-Time Events that have appeared in the series up until now. Pleasingly, the developer has said that the sequel will include fewer loading times and a seamless game world to explore. Online functionality has also been hinted at, though nothing official has been confirmed as of yet.
