Somewhat unexpectedly, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 got a brand new trailer at the third-party and indie focused State of Play briefing today. Rather than providing a new look at the story of the forthcoming sequel, this latest trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 unveiled a much more expanded take on the Big Apple than what has been previously seen in Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

Taking in the additional boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn, New York in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is more than twice the size of its depiction in the previous two games in the series.

Beyond that, the new footage for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 also goes into level of detail that has been lavished across the Big Apple in Insomniac’s latest Spidey effort, with greatly improved traffic and pedestrian density, coupled with heighted detail on key landmarks to make New York City in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 feel as close to the real thing as possible.

Additionally, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 also takes great advantage of the PS5’s screamingly fast SSD too, allowing players to traverse and fly across the New York skyline at speeds that just weren’t possible in the previous games. Very much the sense that you get from the footage is that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 absolutely taps into the power of the PS5 in a way that Insomniac Games has longed to do.

Ahead of its release next month, you can catch the new Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 footage below.
