Scott Rhode, Sony’s Software Product Development Chief, has teased that the console maker has greenlit a number of new projects for PS4 and PS Vita, though it might be a while before we see them in the flesh.
The executive dropped the news during a chat on the PlayStation Blogcast regarding his frequent trips to Sony HQ from his base in San Diego.
“Today it was various meetings in the morning, greenlight meetings talking about new games that I can’t talk about on this podcast, then right into having lunch with Greg Johnson, the original creator of ToeJam & Earl, who also worked with Doki Doki Universe, that’s his baby. He is a very fascinating guy to just sit and talk to and one of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet in your life," he said.
Sadly, Rhode remained tight-lipped as to the identity of these projects, although that’s hardly surprising. Still, with E3 just over a month away, Sony is bound to use its press conference to unveil a number of new titles, so we won’t have long to wait to see what the company has up its sleeves for the next 12 months or so.
On a related note, Greg Johnson recently attempted to get the next ToeJam & Early title, Back into the Groove, into production via a Kickstarter drive. Could we possibly see a revival of the classic 90s platformer for PS4 and PS Vita in the future? We’ll have to wait and see.
