New Resident Evil 7 gameplay teases PS4’s upcoming PSVR horror sequel

Capcom has released two new Resident Evil 7 gameplay teasers for your viewing pleasure, this time focusing on the new save system and trusty old combat knife.

From the look of things, Resident Evil 7: biohazard eschews the typewriter save system in favor of something a little more modern, although the only thing that’s changed is that you now record your progress on tape machine. The other focuses on your combat knife, which clearly has multiple uses outside of slashing enemies to ribbons.

Check out the new Resident Evil 7 gameplay videos below. They’re brief, but still worth a look.

Resident Evil 7 release date set for early 2017

Capcom announced Resident Evil 7 during Sony’s E3 2016 press conference, where the publisher confirmed the game will be released on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on January 24, 2017. The survival horror sequel is also fully playable in PlayStation VR from start to finish, with VR support remaining a Sony-exclusive for one year.

Resident Evil 7 takes place within the same universe as the core series, although introduces a brand new protagonist who lacks the military experience of past heroes in the Resident Evil franchise. The game is set on a mysterious plantation mansion in southern U.S., and takes place from a first-person perspective, with a primary focus on horror and exploration.

Resident Evil 7 demo update coming

Capcom recently confirmed that the playable demo of Resident Evil 7, which is currently available to download from the PlayStation Store, will be updated again prior to the game’s release early next year. The demo launched during E3 week and was updated last month with a number of new items and a new room to explore.
