New Resident Evil 7 screenshots will creep you out

Capcom has exhumed a grisly batch of new Resident Evil 7: biohazard screenshots for your viewing pleasure.

This latest bunch of blood-curdling images come fresh from the new Resident Evil 7 trailer, which was released yesterday following the title’s appearance at Gamescom 2016. They’re suitably moody as you’d expect, featuring some spooky location shots and a meaty-looking Shotgun.

Speaking of Shotguns, we’ve still not actually seen any authentic combat footage of Resi 7 in action, although hopefully that will change soon enough. Check out the screens below.

Resident Evil 7 is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on January 24, 2017. The game will also be fully playable with PlayStation VR from start to finish.

This latest entry in the venerated survival horror is set from a first-person perspective—a first for a mainline Resident Evil title—and takes place on the grounds of a remote plantation mansion in Louisiana. Players will control a brand new protagonist, who Capcom describes as more of an ‘everyday’ man compared to the special forces-trained operatives of past games.

Resident Evil celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, having originally launched on the PlayStation back in March 1996. To mark the occasion, Capcom is re-releasing Resident Evil 4-6 for current-generation consoles, and is also developing a full-fledged remake of Resident Evil 2.
