Resident Evil 7 release date set for early next year, VR support confirmed

Capcom announced during Sony’s E3 press event that Resident Evil 7 will be released for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on January 24, 2017. The game will also be fully playable in PlayStation VR.

Unlike previous entries in the long-running survival horror series, Resi 7 will take place from a first-person perspective, and introduces a brand new protagonist. Not much is known about the plot right now, though you can try the game for yourself by downloading the PlayStation Plus-exclusive demo, Resident Evil 7: Beginning Hour.

Speaking of the demo, Capcom has hinted that one of Resi 7’s biggest enigmas, the dummy finger, may actually have a use after months of players combing the teaser for clues as to its functionality.
