New Tekken 8 Gameplay Offers Better Look At Heat System & Paul Phoenix’s Rage Art

Tekken overlord Katsuhiro Harada and partner-in-crime Michael Murray of Bandai Namco Games have released a new batch of Tekken 8 gameplay footage during the Tekken 7 North American Regional Finals.

The footage is similar to what we’ve seen from the recent Tekken 8 trailer that showed up at The Game Awards, but it’s not part of a flashy cinematic sequence; rather, it’s taken direct from matches, so we can get a better look at the Heat system.

In addition, we’re also showcased Paul’s Rage art, which looks to be slightly different than the one in Tekken 7 in the sense he doesn’t knock his opponent in the air first. Presumably, this means he will be unable to cancel it and convert the first hit into a massive combo.

Tekken 8 is currently in development for PS5, PC and Xbox Series X/S, with a release date yet to be announced. However, Bandai Namco previously said that the sequel is targeting a launch in FY23, which means we won’t see it until after March 2023.
