New Umbrella Corps PS4 screens are bloody gorgeous

Capcom has exhumed a grisly new batch of screenshots for its upcoming PlayStation 4 and PC squad-based shooter, Umbrella Corps.

The screenshots offer a glimpse at the Village stage from Resident Evil 4 as well as the Resident Evil 5-inspired Tricell HQ level, plus various battle scenes featuring zombies, Ganado, and Cerberus dogs. Check them out in our gallery here.

Umbrella Corps is set within the Resident Evil universe and takes the form of an online shooter, where teams square up against each other in furious firefights. While the bread-and-butter action is focused on PvP, you’ll also have to contend with roaming zombies and other T-Virus infected monstrosities, some of which you can use to your advantage in battle.

In addition to the adrenaline-pumping multiplayer, there’s also a single-player mode known as The Experiment to enjoy, which pits gamers against waves of zombies and other creatures in an effort to hone their skills and acquaint themselves with Umbrella Corps’s gameplay mechanics.

Umbrella Corps is due out on PS4 and PC in May 2016.

Resident Evil celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, having been released on the PlayStation on March 22, 1996. Although not technically the first survival horror game, its success brought the genre into the mainstream, and launched a multi-million selling series that has gone on to sell over 30 million units worldwide to date.

Capcom has confirmed that it is developing a full-blown remake of Resident Evil 2, widely considered by fans to be the best entry in the venerable zombie-stomping series to date.
