Widgamer has drummed up 10 new screenshots of Level 5’s blockbuster White Knight Chronicles, due out in Japan on December 25. No gameplay images to be had here, alas, but the proportion of toothy mythological beasties is pretty high.

White Knight Chronicles is shaping up to be this season’s biggest JRPG, in the face of stiff competition from Xbox 360 titles like Star Ocean 4, Tales of Vesperia and Infinite Undiscovery. Not much is known of the story at present, but the battle system is an intriguing real-time variation on the usual stat-based gubbins.
Each character can execute up to seven commands in combat, and combos are possible if you can slip through your enemy’s defences. The main character can also transform into an armour-plated colossus to take down larger opponents.
Expect more info at the Tokyo Game Show this October.
