Ninja Gaiden 3 to be "more accessible," says dev

Team Ninja’s Yosuke Hayashi has let slip that the next installment in its notoriously tricky Ninja Gaiden franchise has been conceived with more accessibility in mind.

Apparently, the team has set itself the lofty goal of cementing the stylish slash ‘em up as “the number one 3D action game of the time.” No pressure, then.

“Then, providing excitement, which is not only from the difficulty,” he said, speaking at the Nintendo 3DS event in Amsterdam. “That’s just one of the elements. It’s more like having excitement from fighting an exciting boss. That is what we needed.”

Quizzed by Eurogamer as to whether or not Ninja Gaiden 3 would be easier than previous iterations, Hayashi replied: “Not easy, but it will enable more people to play. More accessible. We don’t plan to have Ninja Gaiden 3 only for the really good, skilled people.”

Ninja Gaiden 3 marks series’ first entry to be churned out following the departure of Team Ninja’s Tomonobu Itagaki in 2009.  Details on the sequel, including platforms and a release date, have yet to be divulged.
