Grand Theft Auto will not be shown off at this year’s Gamescom in Cologne next month, reports CVG.
According to the site, a representative for Gamescom has confirmed that the brief footage of the Rockstar crime sequel included in a recent trailer for the event was included “in error.” In other words, it looks like we’ll be twiddling our thumbs a while longer.
“Rockstar Games is not scheduled and has never been scheduled to exhibit at Gamescom 2012,” said Gamescom communications manager, Franko Fischer.
Fischer added that the footage has now been removed from the Gamescom trailer. “We apologise for any confusion this may have caused,” he said.”
GTA V has been in the dark ever since its November 2011 reveal via a brief teaser trailer. Rockstar released two new screenshots a few weeks ago, but besides that nothing else has been shown.
The game was absent from E3, putting into question whether or not it will see the light of day this year. As it stands, analysts put the game out any time between October 2012 and April 2013.
