The creator behind No Man’s Sky has made it clear that the space exploration title is not a multiplayer game, though this didn’t stop two players from attempting to meet up with one another in a recent livestream.
While it had been suggested that the game had multiplayer elements allowing players to bump into each other, it seems that No Man’s Sky is fundamentally a single-player experience, as Reddit user GalacticCactus and his buddy found out recently (via GearNuke).
Both players ended up in the same location (though at different times) and recorded their findings during a livestream. Unsurprisingly, they couldn’t see each other.
To be fair, Hello Games’ Sean Murray did confirm this much in a Twitter post a day before the game’s launch:
To be super clear – No Man’s Sky is not a multiplayer game. Please don’t go in looking for that experience.
