No Man’s Sky officially delayed until August, developer reportedly receives death threats

On the official PlayStation Blog, Hello Games founder Sean Murray officially confirmed his studio’s PS4 game No Man’s Sky is facing another delay and will now launch on August 9 in North America, August 10 in Europe, and August 12 in the United Kingdom.

The extra time is needed for further polish on the highly-anticipated space exploring title. An understandable concession given the massive scope and ambition of a game where "99.9% of planets likely won’t be visited."

"The game really has come together, and it’s such an incredible relief," wrote Murray. "As we sit an play it now, and as I watch playtesters every day, I can finally let myself get excited. We’re actually doing this."

“However, as we approached our final deadlines, we realized that some key moments needed extra polish to bring them up to our standards. I have had to make the tough choice to delay the game for a few weeks to allow us to deliver something special.”

Unfortunately, some hardcore fans have been less than understanding about the delay (which was previously rumored earlier this week) and have sent death threats to Murray, according to his Twitter.
