Hello Games has released another No Man’s Sky trailer for your consumption, this time focusing on trading and gathering resources.
Check it out below.
"Resources are a vital part of exploration, trading and survival. No Man’s Sky has its own periodic table of elements – some familiar to our world, some new and unknown – and each one is used in different ways. Some can be used to craft new items and weapons once the player has learnt the technology,” explained Sony.
"While planets might be unexplored, they aren’t necessarily uninhabited. Alien races have their own distinct languages, which can be learned a word at a time at ancient structures or through conversing with the aliens themselves. Unlock their vocabulary and your chance of a successful interaction increases, raising your standing with them.
"Common resources on one planet could be scarce in another – mining on one planet to sell on another can be a lucrative trade. Players can also craft Products from resources, which can be sold for higher prices – discover a certain race’s preferred Product and you can make a living from supplying them."
No Man’s Sky release date confirmed, PS4’s ambitious space adventure due this summer
No Man’s Sky is due out in North America on August 9 and hits Europe on August 10. The game was previously pencilled in for a June 2016 release before being delayed, and has been in the works for well over two-and-a-half years.
The game itself is built around four core principles, namely exploration, trading, combat, and survival. Upon discovering a new planet, gamers can land their craft and scan the environment for valuable minerals and info, which can then be uploaded to universal database known as the Atlus for all to see.
However, if you gobble up too many of any given planet’s natural resources, you’ll be hunted down by beings known as Sentinels, so there’s a price to how much you can harvest.
Unsurprisingly, given the vast nature of No Man’s Sky’s game world, Hello Games has said that around 99% of the game’s planets will not be visited.
