No Plans For Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 Pro Patch, Confirms CDPR

CD Projekt RED has revealed on X that the studio currently has no plans to release a Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 Pro patch, despite many major third-party games taking advantage of Sony’s high-end console.

Sadly the company didn’t go into details on the subject, simply writing, “We currently have no plans for PS5 Pro patch.” No, this doesn’t rule out one happening at a later date, but with the team focussing its efforts on the Cyberpunk sequel now, we probably shouldn’t hold out too much hope of it dropping.

The PS5 Pro launched earlier this month for $699.99/£699.99 and is a far more technically advanced version of the standard PS5, using Sony’s PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) to greatly enhanced image quality, while also implementing high frame rates, improve ray tracing, and other visual enhancements. Many of these improvements can be found in games that carry the PS5 Pro Enhanced branding.

Cyberpunk 2077 was released in December 2020 for PS4, PC, and Xbox One, and was plagued by numerous performance issues on console for months while CDPR attempted to patch the game up. The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Cyberpunk 2077 arrived in February 2022, at which point the game was in much better shape.

CPDR released the game’s first and only expansion, Cyberpunk: Phantom Liberty, in September 2023. You can read our full review of the DLC here. It later transpired that fixing Cyberpunk 2077’s many issues and developing Phantom Liberty cost the developer in the region of $125 million.
