Infinity Ward has poured cold water over rumors suggesting that the company plans to introduce a premium level multiplayer package for its mammoth selling Call of Duty franchise.
Speaking on the company’s official forums, community boss Robert Bowling confirmed that Modern Warfare 2 (as well as any other Infinity Ward titles, for that matter) will maintain an ‘equal and free’ online experience.
"This rumour has absolutely nothing to do with Infinity Ward or our games, including Modern Warfare 2," said Bowling. "We would never introduce such a system for Modern Warfare 2 so don’t worry.”
"Multiplayer will always be equal and free for everyone as always."
Modern Warfare 2 takes place a few years after the events of the original game, and signals the return of Call of Duty 4’s "Soap" MacTavish, who now assumes a non-playable role as a Captain in the Special Air Service. Locations will apparently range from Russia to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The game hits stores on November 10.
