Players are presented with eight adventurers to choose form at the start of their journey, who begin their adventure in different parts of the world. Each character has a four-chapter story arc, and they can’t be removed from the party until the player has completed their arc. Like classic Final Fantasy games, Octopath Traveler features turn-based combat, and is based around the concept of two features: Break and Boost.
