Spotted by Gematsu, the original Octopath Traveler game was given a rating in Taiwan, on its official Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee.
Octopath Traveler II came to PS5 and PS4 in February 2023, but the first game has yet to grace a PlayStation console. With Summer Game Fest this week, it could be the case that is is just a precursor to an announcement due in a matter of days.
Of course it could still be a while until we hear anything, but if there’s any week to speculate in the year it’s this one.
Even with the death of E3, the industry is continuing to gather in June, and whether due to calendar convenience in that it’s halfway through the year, or out of habit, all the big players project what’s to come from their biggest projects.
The original Octopath Traveler coming to PlayStation isn’t the biggest thing, but it’ll be big for PlayStation players, who already enjoy a good turn-based RPG. With the sequel already on the platform, this felt like a gap, and it’s good to see for fans of the genre that it’s getting filled.
