Official WKC story details, online customisation

The PlayStation blog’s Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein just posted an article-length recap of Level 5’s White Knight Chronicles TGS showcase last night. Some of the details will be familiar, but there are some interesting titbits tucked away in the folds.

The online mode, for one, is looking stupendously hefty. Players can create and customise their online characters both in terms of role (mage, warrior, etc) and physical appearance. There appears to be a facial features editor reminiscent of Oblivion’s, with sliders to tweak cheekbone height, jaw angle and so forth.

You can invite other players to join you in co-operative play from within the game. Money and experience can be transferred between the on- and offline modes, too.

During single player, you’ll be cast into the ornate leather boots of Leonard, a young citizen of Balandor, who stumbles upon a set of ancient magical armour during an attack on the kingdom. The armour, of course, enables him to transform into the titanic metallic badass you’ve been seeing in the trailers. With this unique ability under his belt, Leonard sets off with the mysterious warrior Elidore and childhood friend Yulie to track down Princess Cisna, who has been kidnapped by some dastardly wizard chap.

Among other things, Rubenstein reports that there are monsters in White Knight Chronicles so huge they carry entire cities on their backs. Bat-winged airships are also a feature.

Sounds trippy. And brilliant. We’ll be knocking on your door with fresh info soon.
