Onimusha: Way Of The Sword Is About 20 Hours Long, Is Not Connected To Previous Entries In The Series

Speaking during an interview with Famitsu magazine, Akihito Kadowaki and Satoru Nihei, Producer and Director on Onimusha: Way of the Sword, respectively, have revealed that the game will last around 20 hours in length and isn’t connected to previous series entires.

For the first time in about twenty years, we are reviewing, reinterpreting, and reconstructing the world settings of the world such as phantoms and ogre clans. Therefore, there is basically no connection with the past work. This is also aimed at making it possible for those who touch “Onimusha” for the first time in this work to play with peace of mind.

Kadowaki-san added that, while an exact game length hasn’t been determined yet, he predicts Onimusha: Way of the Sword “will take about 20 hours to complete.” He added that he wants to “create a satisfying volume for a single action game.”

Onimusha: Way of the Sword was announced during The Game Awards 2024, and is scheduled for release on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S in 2026. Toshiro Mifune, the late Japanese actor known for his work on Japanese samurai films, is used as the likeness for the game’s protagonist.
