Overwatch Carbon Series: Blizzard’s FPS eSports league explained

Overwatch has seen phenomenal success since its release in May 2016, with competitive and casual gamers alike. For those that enjoy the game and haven’t yet been bitten by the eSports bug, this could be the perfect opportunity to get involved.

What is the Overwatch Carbon Series?
The Overwatch Carbon Series is a tournament that sees participants compete against each other at a professional level in, you’ve guessed it, Blizzard Entertainment’s insanely popular shooter Overwatch. Organised by Carbon Entertainment, it features six teams going head to head in the team-based shooter in a total of 10 competitive matches over a five week period.

Who’s involved?
There are six North American teams competing. They are:

  • Immortals
  • Luminosity
  • Team Liquid
  • Renegades
  • compLexity Gaming
  • Hammers eSports

When is it?
The Overwatch Carbon series kicked off last night, Monday 20 February and will run until 22 March. Two games will be played on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of each week. The four teams with the highest win percentage will then enter the Overwatch Carbon Series Playoff.

So far, Immortals came out with a 3-0 win against rivals compLexity, while Luminosity lost their first match to Renegades by a score of 1-3.

The next rounds sees Hammers go up against Team Liquid while Immortals take on Luminosity. Check out the full match schedule.
