3D Realms and Anshar Studios have announced that classic first-person shooter series Painkiller is getting reimagined for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S in Fall 2025.
Painkiller will see players scrapping through Purgatory in a fast-paced cooperative action romp, where you’ll wield internal weapons against legions of tenacious demons. Three players can team up with full offline support, as you fight for redemption after being condemned for your sins while soaking up richly-detailed gothic environments.
Four characters are up for grabs — Ink, Void, Sol, and Rock — each one offering various abilities that can be enhanced using tarot cards and combined with other players to help vanquish the demonic hordes. Speaking of which, players will face a diverse bestiary on their travels, from smaller fiends to hulking beasts.

Trapped in Purgatory, you are sentenced for your transgressions against Heaven. But the Voice of the Creator gives you a chance to redeem yourself. As one of the Champions, you are to stop the fallen angel Azazel who is about to unleash his demonic armies onto Earth. You will face hordes of enemies, demons with unique powers and three monstrous children of Azazel – the Nephilim.
Painkiller will launch in Fall 2025 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
