Q-Game boss Dylan Cuthbert has announce on the PlayStation Blog that much-loved series PixelJunk is making a comeback in the shape of party brawler PixelJunk Scrappers Deluxe on PS4, PS5.
Due to launch at some point in 2023, PixelJunk Scrappers Deluxe comes on the back of the franchise’s 15th anniversary, and marries elements of traditional arcade brawling with classic couch co-op multiplayer antics. While it’s a beat-‘em-up at heart, PixelJunk Scrappers Deluxe also functions as a clean-‘em-up as players get down to business cleaning up the streets of Junktown.
Players will battle against massive foes while stacking trash sky-high, as well as trash-tracking your friends along the way. There’s collaborative missions and head-to-head challenges, mini-games and boss battles, not to mention heaps of weapons and over 100 unique truck parts to unlock.
The Q-Games studio has resided in Kyoto for over 22 years, so it was an absolute joy to take inspiration from our favorite places and traditions and see them reflected in the cyberpunk streets in-game. There are over 25 levels to explore across 5 jam-packed regions of Junktown, each inspired by Japan’s eclectic sights and sounds.
PixelJunk Scrappers Deluxe is due out on PS4, PS5 in 2023.
